Michael Langford
Captain, Toronto Fire Services
Fire Service Instructor
Sunday Afternoon 13:00 - 14:30
Synopsis
Real Fireground Survival...Training for High-Risk Low Frequency Events
This presentation will be an experienced based understanding of fire behaviour, water application, ventilation and search techniques which contribute to fireground survivability. We will be using the 75% 25% rule of staying out of trouble vs how to save ourselves in the event we do get in trouble. Understanding and training is key to reducing events that require high risk firefighter emergencies.
I will be using materials from UL-Fire Safety Research Institute, Fire Dynamics-NIST, Project Mayday-Don Abbott, among other references and my own experiences on the fireground.
